The Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library presents the following guide on how to download, install, set-up, and use the EndNote X9 Citation software provided by the University of Central Florida for students, faculty, and staff. This guide is intended to be a basic introduction to the EndNote software and it is not comprehensive. If you have any questions or issues with EndNote X9, please contact the Health Sciences Library or your Personal Librarian.

What is EndNote?

EndNote X9 is a reference management software designed to help create, store, organize, and share references. EndNote X9 allows users to:

  • Store references in one place that is accessible across multiple devices
  • Collaborate on, and share reference libraries with other EndNote users
  • Download citations directly from a database to your EndNote library
  • Download, attach, and manage PDF copies of references
  • Make annotations directly on the PDF and keep reading notes linked to the source document
  • Automatically format bibliographies and citations in JAMA, APA, Chicago, MLA, or in 1000+ other styles
