Welcome to our guide for app account creation and installation.

 

If you are a medical student at the UCF College of Medicine, below you will find instructions on how to gain access to apps the Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library has licensed for your use.

Available Apps and Instructions

Installing FREE Epocrates App on an iOS Device

 

  1. Be sure your iOS is updated to latest version.
  2. Open the App store, select Search at the bottom and search for "Epocrates."
  3. Once you've found the Epocrates app, tap the Get App button.
  4. Tap the Install button then enter your iTunes User ID and Password to download.
  5. Return to your device home screen and open the Epocrates app.
  6. Create a FREE Epocrates account or sign in with an existing account if you have one.
  7. Accept the License Agreement to complete the installation and your Epocrates app is ready for use!
  8. Medical students can have access to the full version of the app called Epocrates+ (Epocrates Plus), which includes all of the above content plus disease information, alternative medicine, ICD-10 and CPT codes, infectious disease treatment, and labs. Follow these directions to get Epocrates Plus. You will need a medical education number. Click here to find/get your ME number or call the AMA Member Service Center at 800-262-3211. It's available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM CST.

Installing FREE Epocrates App on an Android Device

 

  1. Locate the app store on your phone, tap on the Search icon and search for "Epocrates."
  2. Select the application and tap to install the free app.
  3. Return to your device home screen and open the Epocrates app.
  4. Create a FREE Epocrates account or sign in with an existing account if you have one.
  5. Accept the License Agreement to complete the installation and your Epocrates app is ready for use!
  6. UpToDate: Account Creation and Installation

  1. Go to the Library’s UpToDate guide, https://guides.med.ucf.edu/uptodateaccess
  2. Click on "Continue to UpToDate"
  3. On the UpToDate site, click on "Log in/Register" near the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Register your account. Keep note of your credentials, they will be needed to sign in to the app and verify your account every 90 days.
  5. Click "Submit Registration". You know have an UpToDate account.

Next install the app

  1. Go to your mobile app store.
  2. Download the free UpToDate app.
  3. Once downloaded, open the app and log in with your account credentials.

Congratulations, you now have mobile access to UpToDate.

Every 90 days your account will "expire" and need to be reverified. To reverify simply log in to your UpToDate account through this link, continue to UpToDate.

Directions to create a Visual Dx account and use the mobile app

  1. Open your browser and go to the library's website at https://med.ucf.edu/library  
  2. Then scroll down and under Online Databases click on “VisualDx”
  3. On the VisualDx website, click on “Create a Personal Account.”
  4. Fill in the form and click “Create a Personal Account.” Make sure you save your credentials; you will need them to log in to the app.

Next install the app 

  1. Go to your mobile app store. 
  2. Download the free VisualDx app. 
  3. Once downloaded, open the app and log in with your account credentials.

Directions to create a DynaMed account and use the mobile app. 

  1. Open your browser and go to the library's website at https://med.ucf.edu/library  
  2. Then scroll down and under Online Databases click on “DynaMed”
  3. On the DynaMed website, click on the person icon and click on “Create Account.”
  4. Fill in the form and click “Register.” Make sure you save your credentials; you will need them to log in to the app. 

Next install the app 

  1. Go to your mobile app store. 
  2. Download the free DynaMed app. 
  3. Once downloaded, open the app and sign in with your account credentials.
